Assessment of Protection against Avian Metapneumovirus
There are different ways to measure protection against aMPV infection after challenge.
Protection can be assessed by:
- the presence of clinical signs in the birds
- virus re-isolation
- virus recognition (for example, Immunofluorescence test -IFT; or using RT-PCR)
- the presence of histological changes in the trachea or nasal tissue (for example by using monoclonal antibodies in immunochemical assays)
- the ciliostasis test
